Starcrash (1978)

Starcrash (original Italian title Scontri stellari oltre la terza dimensione, literally "stellar clashes beyond the third dimension") is an italian science fiction film, which was also released under the English title of The Adventures of Stella Star (in the US). The screenplay was written by Luigi Cozzi (pen name Lewis Coates) and Nat Wachsberger, and Cozzi also directed the film. The cast included Marjoe Gortner, Caroline Munro, Judd Hamilton, Christopher Plummer, David Hasselhoff, Joe Spinell and Robert Tessier. It was filmed in Technicolor with Dolby sound, and has a runtime of 94 minutes. The US release is 92 minutes, and received an MPAA rating of PG. The film is generally regarded by critics as a campy Z movie with cheap special effects and a weak, derivative plot that some people find unintentionally humorous. It appeared a year after the original Star Wars and tried to re-mix the same elements, but without much success. It has been compared to Plan 9 from Outer Space.

Les Fruits De La Passion (1981)

Fruits of Passion (French: Les fruits de la passion) is a French-Japanese drama film directed by Shūji Terayama. Klaus Kinski stars in this stylishly bizarre erotic drama as Sir Stephen, a decadent man of wealth living in Hong... Kong in 1920. Sir Stephen persuades his wife O (Isabelle Illiers) to go to work in a brothel as a way to prove her love for him. As she is confronted by any number of perverse sexual possibilities, Sir Stephen carries on an affair with Natalie (Arielle Dombasle) and supports the political revolution simmering in the Pearl of the Orient. Les Fruits de la Passion was based on a novel by Pauline Reage (aka Dominique Aury), who also wrote the erotic classic Histoire d'O; the film was released in some territories under the title The Story of "O" Continued.

The story takes place in Shanghai. A girl loves a rich and much older man (played by Kinski). She is willing to do everything he wants to show her love, but he is playing a sick game with her. As part of this game he sends her to a Chinese brothel. A poor young boy sees her and falls in love with her. To get the money needed to sleep with her, he joins "the revolution". Additionally the movie shows the fate of some of the other prostitutes.

This film has less S and M and bondage than the original "Story of O", but the sex scenes are much more graphic. There is one obviously unsimulated oral sex scene and another "missionary" scene with Kinski and Illiers that looks pretty unsimulated as well. If you consider this a hardcore porn film, it is a veritable masterpiece. The cinematography is excellent and the musical score is good. There are a lot of poetic images--for instance, a long shot of a dead bird floating in the bay outside the convent, and later a surreal Jean Rollinesque image of a drowned woman floating on a grand piano (?!) in this same bay. Most hardcore porn films wouldn't bother with such arty digressions. As an art film though, which this is also obviously trying to be, it is less successful, mostly because all the characters are pretty thinly drawn.

Rock and Roll Circus

The Rolling Stones Rock and Roll Circus is a film released in 1996 of an 11 December 1968 event put together by The Rolling Stones. The event comprised two concerts on a circus stage and included such acts as The Who, Taj Mahal, Marianne Faithfull, and Jethro Tull. John Lennon and his fiancee Yoko Ono performed as part of a supergroup called The Dirty Mac, along with Eric Clapton, Mitch Mitchell, and Keith Richards. It was originally meant to be aired on the BBC, but the Rolling Stones withheld it because they were unhappy with their performance.

The Stones contended that they withheld the film's release due to their substandard performance, because they had taken the stage early in the morning and were clearly exhausted. Many others believe that the true reason for not releasing the video was that The Who, who were fresh off a concert tour, upstaged the Stones on their own production. The Stones had not toured recently, and were not in top playing condition to match The Who.

Human Highway (1982)

Human Highway is a comedy film starring and co-directed by Neil Young under his pseudonym Bernard Shakey. Dean Stockwell co-directed the film and acted along with Russ Tamblyn, Dennis Hopper, and the band Devo. Included is a collaborative performance of "Hey Hey, My My (Into the Black)" by Devo and Young with Booji Boy singing lead vocals and Young playing lead guitar.

The film was shown in only select theaters and was not released on VHS until 1995. It received poor reviews upon its premiere and with the benefit of hindsight has received favorable reviews more recently.

Blues Traveler Discography

Blues Traveler is a blues-rock band, formed in Princeton, New Jersey in 1987. The band has been influenced by a variety of genres, including blues-rock, psychedelic rock, folk rock, soul, and Southern rock. They are known for extensive use of segues in their live performances.

Currently, the group comprises singer and harmonica player John Popper, guitarist Chan Kinchla, drummer Brendan Hill, bassist Tad Kinchla and keyboardist Ben Wilson. Tad Kinchla and Ben Wilson joined the band following the death of original bassist Bobby Sheehan in 1999 of a drug overdose in New Orleans, Louisiana.

While Blues Traveler is best known among fans for their improvisational live shows, the general public is most familiar with the group from their singles "But Anyway", "Run-Around" and "Hook". They gained mainstream radio popularity from their fourth studio album Four, released in 1994.

Sheehan's death and Popper's struggle with obesity put a damper on the group's success, and A&M dropped the band in 2002. However, the band took this transition period as an opportunity to start in new directions musically, going largely independent and releasing on smaller experimental labels.

Louis Germain David de Funès de Galarza (31 July 1914 – 27 January 1983) was a French actor who is considered by many to be one of the giants of French comedy. His acting style is remembered for its high energy performance, a wide range of facial expressions and an engaging, snappy impatience.

He was enormously successful in several countries for many years, but remained almost unknown in the English-speaking world. He was only noted in the United States in 1974 with the release of The Mad Adventures of Rabbi Jacob. In a 1968 poll, he was voted France's favourite actor. Hippies, yippies and yuppies flocked to Yasgur's Farm in 1969 in search of music and a good time, but as the big name bands rolled in so did the crowds (a half million people!) - and so it was that a relatively small aquarian exposition transformed into a counterculture movement that changed rock'n'roll history forever. In celebration of the landmark festival's 40th anniversary, Rhino is set to release Woodstock - 40 Years on: Back to Yasgur's Farm Limited Edition Boxset, the most comprehensive collection of Woodstock performances ever. Sequenced in the chronological order in which they occurred, the 77-song, six-CD boxed set contains 38 previously unreleased recordings. After a labor-intensive process of reviewing every inch of multi-track tape, co-producer Andy Zax selected the very best from each of the 33 sets and furthered the collection's authenticity by including stage announcements, set banter, the sounds of rain, a cameo appearance by Abbie Hoffman, and the graciousness of Max Yasgur's address to the crowd, heard for the first time in its entirety. Also for the first time ever, the complete and accurate set lists will be included in the box's booklet. Highlights from this extraordinary collection are plentiful, but stand-outs certainly include never-before-released tracks and previously unissued full-length versions of performances by Ravi Shanker, Country Joe McDonald, Grateful Dead, Creedence Clearwater Revival, The Who, Joe Cocker, Country Joe & The Fish, The Butterfield Blues Band, and Sha Na Na.

Quel maledetto treno blindato (1978)

Set in Europe during WWII, a group of American soldiers are in the process of being shipped off to military prison for a variety of infractions, ranging from desertion to murder. While they're being transported, a German artillery attack hits the convoy, killing the MPs and enabling four of the prisoners to escape. The group decides their best bet is to head to neutral Switzerland where they can avoid the fighting and prison. As they make their way to what they think will be freedom, they end up volunteering for a commando mission to steal a V2 warhead for the French Underground. Somehow, the team must sneak into the most heavily guarded base in German territory, steal the Nazi's most precious military hardware, and bring it back to the allies without getting arrested again by their own side.

Roadracers (1994)

Robert Rodriguez shows us that you don't need a fourtune, a major studio, or big name stars to make a memorable and utterly stunning film of this caliber. Rob goes for the rebel in all of us with this effective script and his signature WHAM BAM style of filming and editing. Rob gives us a great American masterpiece with a solid story and incredably on-the-point acting from Arquette and the rest of the cast. Most memorable are the fight scenes with the pounding LINK WRAY music that I can't seem to find in any record store! Look out for the ketchup bottle!

Da uomo a uomo (1967) This movie is a spaghetti western classic! This movie was one of the many movies that was the inspiration for Tarantino's Kill Bill. Lee Van Cleef gives a great performance, but the man playing the other lead named Bill is trying to be Clint Eastwood the entire time. Once you get past is weird voice, you will enjoy what I consider the best Lee Van Cleef movie. After witnessing the murder of his family, Bill grows up and wants to exact revenge on the gang responsible. Lee Van Cleef has a score to settle with the same gang and they both set out after them after his release from prison. It's a buddy movie mixed with a revenge story mixed with a story of redemption set in the wild west. Enjoy!!!!
